General Information Physics 51 is the two-semester introductory course in the Physics and Astronomy Department at Pomona College for students who have had or are currently taking calculus. This course is based on an innovative curriculum entitled Six Ideas That Shaped Physics, which was one of the four course models developed for the national Introductory University Physics Project (IUPP), a joint project of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the American Institute of Physics (AIP).
